Release Date: January 7, 1998 TID RECEIVES ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS 404 PERMIT FOR BUTLER REGIONAL HIGHWAY TID RECEIVES ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS 404 PERMIT FOR BUTLER REGIONAL HIGHWAY The Butler County Transportation Improvement District (TID) was notified today that the United States Army Corps of Engineers has awarded the Butler Regional Highway project the Section 404 permit. This permit is the last hurdle to be crossed before construction can begin on the Butler Regional Highway. The TID is moving forward with plans to let the contract and break ground as early as possible this spring. The TID applied for the 404 permit on January 22, 1997. The Corps of Engineers held its public hearing on August 7 in Hamilton, and the comment period ended September 8, 1997. After extensive review, the permit was awarded with a limited number of conditions which require the TID to take additional precautions when protecting the area's environment, waterways, and historic or archeological sites. The new Highway will be a limited access, four-lane, 10.3 mile facility linking link SR 4 in Hamilton, Ohio, with Interstate 75 in Butler County. It is expected to open for traffic in summer, 2000. |
