9 May 1995 TID begins right-of-way acquisition for Regional Highway In early May, the Butler County Transportation Improvement District (TID), in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation, began acquiring right-of-way for the Butler County Regional Highway. The highway, sometimes improperly called the "Hamilton Connector," is designed to provide Butler County business, residents and future industry a more direct access to the nation's interstate highway system. The first parcel of land purchased for the highway's corridor involved 21.3 acres located on the west side of State Route 747, just north of Hamilton-Mason Road. The transaction was closed on May 1 for the tract of land, formerly owned by H.T. Investments. Acquisition price was not disclosed. The process to acquire the roadway's right-of-way is expected to take one to two years. If possible, due to the importance of the project in the area, the process will be expedited. The completion of the Regional Highway is expected to be an important boost to the area's economy by sparking new and expanded investment in the county. In the meantime, the TID will make every effort to communicate with residents, developers and businesses so they are well informed of progress. |
